KURANDA

Location: 25 km northwest of  Cairns

The rainforest around Kuranda has been home to the Djabugay people for over 10,000 years, and Europeans began to explore the area throughout the nineteenth century. 

The name Kuranda is derived from the Yindinji work, Kuran, referring to a native acorn leafed plant, and the town of Kuranda was established in 1885.

From bird watching to taking a trip on the Scenic Kuranda Railway, there's plenty to do in Kuranda!

Our park is teeming with a smorgasbord of all the tropical leafy and fruity delights native rainforest wildlife love! The peaceful sea of green is broken only by a plethora of rainbow-coloured exotic blooms, or the aqua blue flash of a Ulysses butterfly fluttering by.
